Reader’s Digest has a slogan that reads “A Trusted Friend In A Complicated World”
Let each of us be Trusted Friends in a world of conflict.
We need to work at this consistently in order to be trustworthy.
We can’t be perfect, we can’t be God, but let us try not to be so changeable, hey?
We are all a work in progress – Sometimes people will see Christ in the comely side of us and sometimes they will see the uncomely side of self. Aim to see more of Jesus in your life every day, and others won’t see such a conflicting story. We are Living Letters – practice Care in what people are reading. Let it be Jesus.
Each day, consider ways you can make a difference for someone around you.
If may be a warm smile, some cheerful laughter, it may be a friendly greeting or act of kindness.
See how many you can think of, write them down and meditate on them each week.
Then things will come readily to mind from your Kindness Treasury when you are out somewhere.
And you can have the privilege of making someone’s day Better or Nicer – maybe two or three, hey?
Yes, BE the Kindness you would like to see in the world around us – right where you are.
Be empowered to bring Blessing to others – Jesus has Called us to do exactly that.
Then you can say at the end of each day “It’s all about You Jesus. You’re Living in me.
I love You for who You are, changing me – this is becoming a Reality. Yes, Live through me.”
Be the change you wish to see in others, setting an example for them. The fragrance of Jesus is contagious.
If you are consistent, at some time, this will speak volumes to others. This is the best way to change people, through our example.
Jesus working in us and through us, a wonderful reality. Often, we want to change others but we don’t want to be changed.
Yes, be the change you wish to see, so in time, others will desire to follow your example.
In this way, we make Jesus tangible to those around us, and some will choose to follow Him because they can see a clear picture of Him.
When we speak consistent words of kindness to others, it helps to instill confidence in them and Jesus can work with that.
Make sure this kindness is consistent, unchanging. Don’t over commit and then let them down – that would counteract the kindness shown and create distrust in them.
That’s not what you want if you really Care for that person. Best to be moderately consistent.
To Act with kindness and not expect gratitude is to be like your Heavenly Father.
I have seen this with Couples: Each one wants the other to change first, and they are not being the Change they wish to see. They want their partner to do all the changing.
And the thing is, if you want God’s help, if you really want His help, He doesn’t work that way, Do you want the blessing or an illusion?
His message to us is, get real, stop kidding yourself and acknowledge you need to make half the changes.
I can just hear The Lord saying “I can work with that. If not, I will have to answer someone else’s prayer who is more sincere” can you? Those are His terms for blessed marriages.
We all have blind spots. If we want to see changes in others, our prayer should be Lord change me first.
